Chris Chapman is the Director and Principal Clerk of Chapman’s List Barristers. He is the first point of contact for solicitors seeking the suitability and availability of Barristers.
With more than 15 years of experience serving in some of the state’s busiest courts and jurisdictions at their highest strategic levels, Chris has developed a deep knowledge and understanding of the justice system, as well as the legal professionals and people who operate within and engage with it.
As Principal Barristers’ Clerk, Chris uses his unique knowledge of the court system and clear understanding of Chapman’s List Barristers skill sets, styles and approaches – together with his strategic and management experience – to help solicitors identify and brief the most suitable Barrister to achieve the best possible result for their client.
He also works closely with the Barristers of Chapman’s List to help them build their practice and reach their desired potential.
Chris is widely recognised for his affable approach and his ability to successfully guide and support Barristers in establishing or refining their careers at the Bar. His respect and deep understanding of the profession – including the pressures Barristers, Judges, legal counsel and their clients face – are key to his personalised approach.

Career summary
Chris has worked exclusively in the legal industry since he started his career as a Trainee Court Registrar in the Magistrates Court at the age of 21.
He has held the positions of Strategic Advisor to the Chief Magistrate, Senior Associate for the Criminal Reserve List of the County Court of Victoria, Regional Coordinating Registrar for the Magistrates Court in Shepparton, and Deputy Registrar in the County Court of Victoria.
Throughout his career, Chris has liaised with senior internal and external stakeholders in judicial, legal and administrative roles, including in government and the private sector. He has worked with, learned from, and developed strong networks with some of the most well-regarded and respected Judges, Magistrates, Barristers and solicitors in Victoria.
